Bicycles & Guns in Suburban Detroit AGAIN!

Not sure if I should have posted this in commuting or not, after all he was on his way to and from "work"

The bike was witnessed, the gun only implied, so maybe it was'nt REALLY another pistol packing rider after all.

http://www.macombdaily.com/article/2...obbery-on-bike

• Macomb County Sheriff’s investigators hope to soon release video of a man sought in a Macomb Township bank robbery who escaped on a green mountain bike, police said Saturday. The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. Friday at a Flagstar Bank branch on Hall Road near the Aspen restaurant, west of Heydenreich Road. Police said the man approached a teller with a note that indicated he had a gun and wanted money. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on the bicycle, deputies said.Witnesses described the robber at a white male in his late 30s or early 40s, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a dark blue or black T-shirt, blue jeans, work boots, white socks and a baseball cap with red lettering.

This is greater than just a Detroit thing.. Police in Long Beach , Calif have been said to be suspicious of cyclists.. The result has been cyclists stopped for questioning , so has said some of the local media.. What is a better, more agile means of escape than a mountain bike. Plus , put on a helmet and sunglasses much of your face is hidden. But, should the bandit be packing in lycra, its a little hard to keep the pistol out of sight... . ? Baggies might be better bandit garb. They say we all look alike. Maybe that is why police on bikes is catching on in many cities. ?

Yep, getting common. In Reno, police are looking for a bank robber who wears street clothes and escapes on a mountain bike.

Ya know what would happen to me? I'd pull a stickup, run for the bike and find out some misbegotten had made off with my get away bike.

Happening in NC too. Some guy stole copper pipe out from under a house and rode off on a mountain bike...

Out here the guns are for Elk and Hunters come into the shop, for the slightest brake squeak,
so they can stop silently, when they spot one of them..

An Elk Trailer for the bike looks like a industrial aluminum camp cot..

story of one fellow who thought a woods Camo paint look was good..
laid the bike down , then took 45 minutes to find it.. again.

Srsly. I used to go pig hunting on an mtb. Would tow a BOB trailer part way in and stash it somewhere then go out on the bike looking for piggies.

Are there any bangers out there doing "pedal bys" on bicycles?

Wouldn't the recoil knock you off the bike?

maybe bike bangers only use 22's for pedal by's, that way the recoil is next to non existant.
