Seinfeld Bicycle

I've been watching alot of Seinfeld reruns on t.v. lately, and I noticed there's always a green bike hanging in the back of Jerry's apartment. Anyone know what kind it is? Just a little curious with too much time on my hands.

Klein the bike changed from time to time but it was always a Klein. There is also always a Superman somewhere in the appartment.

Yesterday's episode had Elaine buying a girl's Schwinn stingray and Kramer was riding it in the streets. Hilarious!

Actually I just googled it. It was always that green Klein other than one episode where it was a Cannondale. Apparently the bikes belonged to Michael Richards (Kramer).

I thought it was a Cannondale in more than just one episode. Regardless, one of the greatest shows ever filmed, and DEFINITELY the greatest "sit-com".

Anybody ever notice the fork on that Klein is installed backwards in a few of the episodes?

Look for it.

The block across the street from Jerry in the show also has a bike shop. They're always in front of it with the big specialized S on it.

That was probably the episode in which Jerry and Kramer switch apartments. I think that it had to do with the Kenny Roger's Fried Chicken outlet or something.

No, someone on the set switched it, Klien people noticed right away and awitched it back. There was a small stirup over that since it was an unfriendly thing to do.

I saw the taping of the Seinfeld show in the second season, and while waiting for the cast to arrive, the studio aide takes questions from the audience. I asked about the bike. I wondered why they used a REAL bike in the background when it would have been a lot cheaper and easier to just paint a mock-up to look real. I mean, come on, the refridgerator was fake. It's just a prop.

Her answer was rather bland. So bland in fact, that I don't remember her exact words. But she said something like, 'Oh, it's just the work of a quirky crew'

She never mentioned who it belonged to.

btw, the episode was the one in which Jerry's car was stolen, and he calls his car phone and talks with the perpetrator.
I didn't have a TV at the time, so I never saw the episode.

Michael Richards ("Kramer") put that bike there. He's a cyclist.
Afterwards, there was a flurry of bike company activity to pay for product
placements on popular TV shows. A Cannondale was placed in Kramer's
apartment, and one appeared in Jerry's apartment as well for a time. One of
the bikes in Jerry's apartment had its fork installed backwards.

Specialized paid to have a bike shop featuring Specialized bikes on the
street that the characters would walk down. It was called the "Special Bike
Shop," and it had all Specialized products in the window. There was also a
Specialized bike in George's apartment for a time.

Specialized also had a Globe in the apartment on Mad About You. A few other
shows had bikes in the background. They were all paid product placements.
One of the most common product placements that you still see today is the
Bose Wave Radio. For a while it seemed that every sitcom character owned
one.

Also, Madonna is a regular cyclist. Sammy Hagar is a big time cyclist and
owns his own shop. Robin Williams rides all the time and is profiled in the
current Bicycling magazine (the first article they had in a long time that I
had any interest in reading).

Even the Pres is becoming an avid cycling enthusiast. Perhaps he'll pass some legislation for more and better bike paths. Yeah, right!

https://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...ushbike13.html

From article:
What began as a way for the president to stay fit, after three decades of running ruined his knees, is now his passion.

Besides burning calories at a 1,000-per-hour clip, cycling gives Bush an emotional rush that sometimes surpasses the one he got from running.

"He's obsessed with it," McKinnon said. "He now likes to do nothing but work out on his bike, and he does it with a frenzy that is reserved for people like Lance Armstrong."

Bush's face lights up at the mention of biking, a heart-thumping release from the stress of his job.

Much as I disagree with the current pres, I'm happy he discovered this. I don't think anything in running could compare to the feel you get from a sweet DH run or some well executed singletrack riding.

This was discussed 2 years ago and I posted a Bicycle Guide magazine article on it. check it out

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...cheal+richards

BTW, I got the Seinfeld DVD's for Xmas. Hard to say if it was better than the first Dick Van **** Show, All in the Family or Mary Tyler Moore, but it's still my favorite.

I'm pretty sure the Jerry rides too. He did an American Express commercial once where he's Mtn. Biking on some sacred land upsetting everyone, maybe he's coming down vesuvius or something? I can't recall.
