Interesting that we don't see telethons and late-night pleas for donations to help neglected, abused and discarded bicycles. Where is the celebrity support and federal foundations? It just makes me wanna cry. LOL

what's so ugly about it? hundreds of cars are under the snow, so what's wrong with another metal object being covered with show? we do ride in rain don't we, and we do ride in mud, which is in my opinion is far worse to deal with then snow/water. It's simply a decision of the owner, but i do understand those of you who are upset with this scene

Of course you don't understand. Probably because you, unlike the rest of us, realize that road bikes can handle being buried in snow just like a car, and are hearty vehicles that aren't sensitive at all in terms of being submerged in water, and so on.

You also understand, unlike the rest of us, that on a car, everything is exposed, whereas a bike has everything important covered up and no delicate adjustable parts could be damaged by having 5 feet of snow piled on top of it.

You're just so much smarter than us to compare cars to bikes, Chuvak. I hope one day to be as enlightened as you.

What tells you it's a road bike, handlebars? How do you know that it's not a beater? Maybe the guy/girl has barely enough space in apartment to live with his/her family and thus the bike is outside. I never claimed to understand more or to be smarter then anyone else here(In fact i learn many thngs from people here), I just stated my opinion. You stated yours by starting this thread, I didn't flame you for it. It's morning, so your attitude is somewhat understandable. Have a nice day

Its not THAT big a deal. I rode in the rain this winter (yeah we don't get THAT much rain here in LA but enough to mess some stuff up) and didnt wipe my bike down once. Actually I did, twice, but that was it. My bike's a beater. All it takes is for me to go down to the local bike co op and take a few hours and give my ride some TLC and she's as good as new. Besides, I enjoy regreasing bearings.

Not bloody likely. A bit old, but not a beater unless people have started keeping relatively nice beaters around. And it's locked up with at least three different kinds of lock (U, and two cables).

Not in those apartments, but then again what would I know? I only walk past it everyday.

Actually "What's so ugly about it" is what set me off. It's ugly because there's a bike being left out in the snow covered by five feet of it in the middle of a nasty New York winter. I think you probably understand that this site is called "bikeforums.net," and on it many many people gather because they are bike enthusiasts, and this kind of thing, when it bothered me, was something I figured other cycling enthusiasts who don't see a bike as just a hunk of metal would also be annoyed at.

As for the attitude, you got snippy first my friend, putting yourself above us mere plebes who were aggravated about it by asking what was so ugly about it. But then again, it's morning, and your attitude is understandable. Have a nice day

Dude, like you said this is a forum, everyone has an opinion. Get use to people disagreeing with you. No one took my comment as offensive, because it wasn't, except for you. Perhaps you have yet to acquire understanding of reality and begin to grasp a simple fact of that people have different ways of doing things, from that of yours, thus no need to stress out. Your attitude comment is totally out of context, but then again that’s your opinion. Boy, if I had a rusty chain on my bike I would sure hate to meet you.

Here we go. First you judge someone’s bike, now you judge my avatar and the comment. I had no intentions of showing anything to anybody; it’s a simple quote that comes from cartoon that goes together with the picture. I didn’t post to feel better either. I posted to express my opinion that in no way was constructed to insult anybody. Now if one posts to feel better (hint) I would say it can serve as a nice therapy.
