CCR: Cosmo's Factory (1970) album cover bike
 

ccr= creedence clearwater revival for you young whippersnappers. the album had a 10 speed on the cover, and i can't make a large enough image to read the down tube.
i no longer have the lp and am curious as to what bike it was.

any bikes featured on other lps?

This was the LP with "Fat-Bottomed Girls" on it.

I still have "Cosmo's Factory" on vinyl. Can't make it out either. This is when bikes were finally cool enough to be front & center.

On first glance, I would guess an electro-forged Schwinn, like a Continental, perhaps. Looks like a lot of shiny chrome bits and pieces.

The suicide brake levers, chrome dork disc, and chrome pants-protector on the outside of the big chainring are consistent with a 1970 Schwinn.
And I almost think I can see the ends of the stem-mounted shift levers they used...though it's hard to tell if those are downtube cablestops or downtube shifters.

I'm actually spending more time gawking at the tuck&roll Kustom bass amp.

I agree. Especially with the huge shiny chainguard on the crankset. Not to mention the "safety" levers, though I know a lot of other mfrs used them on their less expensive bikes, too.

Who's the band member sitting on the floor? He looks like my favorite uncle did when this album came out. Still love CCR.

i originally thought this was an album cover, but wiki says it was the envelope for a 45rpm. the story behind it was fascinating. 65 naked babes (professional models) riding bikes in a stadium. pic is a photo of one participant. the bikini bottom was an airbrush add-on so us teen males wouldn't lose our minds..

There are a lot of things pointing to this being a late 60's Schwinn Super Sport. The biggies being the round headbadge, one piece crank, alloy QR wheels, chrome pedals with clips and straps, and spacing on the downtube decals. The chrome fork was used on the earlier versions of this model.

Chrome fork rules out a Conti.
Most of the music has held up well: My picks would be Up Around the Bend and Run Through the Jungle for the Swamp-Rock groove.

I too wondered if it was a Schwinn. But I was thinking a Super Sport.

Here's an image from Sheldon's site. But I can't find any Schwinn's in the 1970 catalog with that dark blue paint color.

The bikes have changed, but the amps look the same...

Super Sports came in Sky Blue from 1969 on back. 69 or 70 was the last year for the chrome fork.

Almost on topic: Saw John Fogarty perform a few CCR songs last night at the Sound City concert. He's held up well, better than Stevie Nicks. No bicycles.

I noticed that in the catalog, and remember the Sky Blue. But the bike on the CCR cover is much darker. So I'm wondering if it's an early Japanese bike. It doesn't look nice enough to be a Bottechia, Puch or something like that.

I was thinking Continental, also, but a Continental would have a painted fork, not chrome, I think. The name on the downtube decal is in two parts, which would be consistent with it being a Super Sport:

That just looks like lighting. Everything appears to be dark on the cover. There were no Japanese Schwinn lightweights with a one-piece crank.

Yeah, I think Jeff Wills nailed it. When I thought of Sky Blue, the pale pastel blue shown below is what I thought of.

But the crank looks more like a cottered crank than the Ashtabula type a Schwinn would have. I'd guess a generic, entry level bike-boom European make.

Probably not, with a Huret "Alvit" rear derailleur. A Japanese bike of that era and price point would probably have a Shimano "Falcon" or "Eagle" or a SunTour GT.

I also don't remember any braised on bottle cages on my early Schwinns. But who knows. However I was looking at what looks to be an old set of Ludwig Drums. I have never missed any of my old Schwinns.

You can't see how the cage is secured in the picture. It could just as easily be straps.
