Midwives/Nurses on bikes

got the first season of 'call the midwife' from the library.
late 1950s london's east end.

they ride bikes on their rounds. dunno what brand; considering the time period maybe raleigh or bsa. probably single gear.

super show.

i knew a nurse who covered the hills and hollows of harlan county, kentucky in the 50s. she used horses (one to carry her gear) and jeep. payment was seldom cash; mostly barter: chickens, eggs, a ham, a jug of moonshine (what she said). they had and may still have, peddlers with 2 horses. newspapers/magazines were treasured no matter the age.
