I hate stickers. I spent about 3 hours tonight removing stickers from my wheels because one started to peel off, and I couldn't have that.

I found out too late that if you peel them *very* slowly, the adhesive doesn't separate from the sticker and you don't have to scrub adhesive off of the wheels.

Overall I am happy with the result, but I hope I never have to do it again!

Anybody else have any horror stories?

P.S. Goo gone does a number on the nails...wear gloves.

Stickers will come off much much easier if heated with a hair dryer. Just warm them up for a minute or so and they usually peel right off leaving little or no residue. If there is some glue left, WD40, OMS, Goo Gone... all work about equally well at removing it.

WD-40 removes most of the adhesive, but remember to use alcohol to remove the WD-40 afterwards. WD-40 is not good for brakes.

When I was building boats we used to use a product called 3M Multi-Purpose Adhesive Remover - it was great for cleaning up contact cement, etc, and works equally well on sticker residue. But it's really nothing more than cigarette lighter fluid, which you can pick up for a lot less than 3M's product.

I added a Bikes not Bombs sticker. recently..

back in the 80s there was a 'get a bike free' when you buy a TV or other major appliance .

since they were CaCa assemblies, They were brought into the shop to make 'work'..

over time my Specialized Expedition touring bike was made a parody with those
stickers, transferred * , as they were both an anthracite grey paint..

Never made it to Florence Italy , maybe they would not get the joke there anyhow.

* If still fresh, they often peel right off..

Great stuff! I've been using it for years on everything from removing old tree sap on paint to removing left behind adhesive. I wouldn't go far as to refer to it as, "cigarette lighter fluid". Its been used by body shop and detailing professionals with great success for years. Its definitely not environmentally friendly tho and should only be used in well ventilated areas far far away from any flame.

Just about any citrus cleaner should work.

Goo Gone is what I usually use...let it set on the adhesive for awhile, like 10-15 minutes and it should wipe off fairly easily with a rag.
