"Share the road yall" Auto License Plate - Oxymoron?

I have always joke about painting my truck to match the paint job of one of my bikes. My friends have gotten to the point they say... then you will need a truck for each bike. Well today my fiance emailed me this link as a possible wedding present.

    http://www.dot.state.tx.us/vtr/sppla...te.htm?nbr=135

guess this is what I get for joking around.

I think its a great idea! Money going to a good cause and raising awareness. Sounds like a win-win to me.

WOW - that's really cool! I would definitely support this if it was in my state (MS) but right now they seem to be overwhelmed with NASCAR supporters. I doubt they'd go for this one around here.

Guess I got the unfair advantage on you. I don't think this plate would exist if Lance was from Arkansas.

I just hope this doesn't start a trend with Texas Dept of Transportation. I can see it now... the Los Lonely Boys plate... money goes to support drug rehab.

In PA, isn't it "Y'uns share the road"?

    I like that plate!

But I'm not moving to TX!

Awesome. I'll be mailing my app tomorrow.

Yeah, it is an oxymoron, but hey, it's a start right?

A cool plate, but you pay extra for it. I have seen a good number of vehicles with this plate, or with a very similar bumper sticker. And, unlike the guys driving trucks with the KKK flag, no driver with a "Share The Road" sticker has attempted to run me off the road.

Hard to believe, but South Carolina has a "Share the Road" plate already in circulation. (My avater) The money is used to add bike lanes throughout SC. I have seen where this has been implimented.
    Bikes use brakes to stop.

If your bike has breaks, don't ride it.

    I got this plate!

I figured, TxDOT putting this on a plate may carry a bit more weight than me with a bumper sticker that says the same thing.

In California, it'd be "Like, share the road, okay?"

What's up with the "y'all"? The designers at TX DOT must think everybody that lives in their state speaks with the same colloquialisms.

At least there's a good message behind it. It just doesn't seem like they take "sharing the road" as a serious concern, being so 'cutesy' about it.

I'm a southerner, but I don't use "y'all". Arrgh.. that just gets on my nerves - just another form of stereotyping...

Well, I'm off to eat some cornbread and grits, and to wash it down with some sweet tea. Happy riding, y'all!

You do say y'all, you just never notice it.

I did some searching around Xmas for "Share The Road" plates and holders. Here in Massachusetts, it is possible to have only a rear plate, so I was looking for something to put on the front. I found several states that have plates like this - Florida and Georgia, as I recall, had them or were considering them.

I would love to have regular plates like that, regardless of the syntax. When I drive by a cyclist, I'd like to show some support, but I'm afraid if I honked, I'd end up on here as a story about the "damned cagers".

I did find "Share The Road" plate holders, by the way, but only a few "I'd Rather Be Biking" plates - no "Share The Road" generic plates that I could find.

You can usually find a custom plate shop at a large mall that could make one for you.
