Fastest way to sell a bike?

Those of you who have ever wanted or needed to sell your bike for some much-needed quick $$: Which method was quickest and most efficient for you? Craigslist? Pawn shop? This forum? Other?

I hope I'll never be in that situation, but I'd be nice to know how to sell my bike quickly if some disastrous financial reversal were to hit me from out of the blue....

Craigslist for very cheap. Instant cash infusion but be prepared to loose your shirt if you really really need the money. Ebay takes fees and paypal takes days to transfer the cash to your account....then if the buyer is shady they can dispute the purchase and eBay takes the money back and "holds" it until you basically make the buyer happy. Pawn shops here won't give you hardly anything for a bike, I just don't think they sell well for them so they aren't even interested.

What babytoes said, with the emphasis on cheap. It would cost me almost $4000 to replace my favorite bike, but probably months to sell it for $3000. If I put a sign up in a bike shop asking $100, it would be gone by lunchtime. You just have to figure out what you can live with.

Sell it to your loving parents. But first tell them why you need the quick cash.

The best way to sell a bike is to part it out.

That'll probably yield the most money but, all the drawbacks babytoes mentioned about craigslist and ebay, you'll have bunches of those instead of just 1.

clean the bike thoroughly, frame, drivetrain, rims etc.

optional: put a hot girl on the bike in the pictures, and/or include a cute baby/pet in the frame of the photo.

and yes, do it on CL, unless you live in a podunk little town in the middle of nowhere. with ebay, there's shipping, taxes and stupid stuff like that. CL is so much easier.

I've sold a few bikes on CL. Clean it up get some nice pics. I kept dropping the price every ~3 days until they were gone.
