How the hell do you lock your bike seat with this chan?

I have this :

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I cant seem to get this giant loop around the free hanging metal thing of my saddle.

So how do you lock your bike seat with this?

Thanks in advance.

edit: typo in title, ment cable

The thicker cables like that are generally intended to be used on wheels and accessories. Depends on your saddle and it's positioning as to whether or not it can fit through the rails.

The orange sleeves are just to protect paint from being scratched by the swedge;if you cut it off,it may give you a little extra clearance. Otherwise you might have to just go with a thinner cable. Some hardware stores will make cables like that, you could have them make you a whole new custom one or just a loop through your rails to run that cable through.

You could also do away with using a cable for your saddle by rubber cementing a BB into the head of the hex bolt that holds your saddle on.

Thanks for the reply.
Hm ok I hope your right about the orange thing.. ill cut it off and try... what do you mean by
"rubber cementing a BB into the head of the hex bolt that holds your saddle on"

The problem i see with rubber cementing or soldering is that it's not very visible so it's not a very visible deterrent tool like a cable. The risk being that once the thief start looking at your bike thinking there is no protection the thief could make some damages to the bike. But this could be true with a cable as well.

Most saddles are bolted onto the seatpost with one bolt. They're usually a good size 5-6mm. You can take rubber cement and stick a BB up in the hole of the bolt. You can't loosen the bolt without removing it. Doesn't prevent theft, but slows a thief down, and unless you have a Brooks or high-end race saddle, they'll usually look for easier pickings.

I did this.

Funny... I was eyeing a Brooks saddle today but the I was thinking... someone wil steal it!

I use a short combination cable lock. I run it through the seat rails and through the seat stays. I need to be able to take my seat post off occasionally (when I have a flat).

(I have to ask). Why?

Because I have a Biologic seatpost/pump. My seat post is also my pump.

This is how I do it. Of course the U-lock would also be attached to a rack or post of some sort.

Edit: May not work on all saddles, it just barely fits through mine.

Thanks all this is exactly what I do!
But it is a pain and I have to fiddle with it a lot!

For me it got easier with time. Except for winter, when my hands are numb and the cable gets stiffer. Aside from that I've found it to be a great secondary cable. It fits around my chest rather nicely for transport.
