Look up the geometry charts for the bike you're looking at,then compare the measurements to a bike you own that fits you properly. Pay attention to the pic that usually above the chart;different companies measure their bikes differently. Some measure the seattube from the center of the bottom bracket to the middle of where it connects to the toptube,some measure to the top lip of the seattube.

Use frame sizing charts. Get the geometry of the bike of your interest. Find another bike somewhere with a similar geometry and test ride it. This will get you into the ballpark. Also (and this is crucial), find the length of the top tube. If it's horizontal, it will almost always be more of a confirmation, than either standover height, or seat tube length.

Well, I found the size chart for the bike I'm interested in (it's the Fuji Connoisseur). Does anyone here have one, btw?
I'm not sure where to even begin a search for a model with a similar geometry though.
