Buying Fourth U-Lock
 

I'm getting a $5 U-lock from Craigslist, and then I will have distributed my U-locks to all my common destinations. I've even found locations that are protected from the rain.

Now I only need to carry four keys, and I can lock my bike with no weight penalty.

i find it kind of annoying when i go to lock my bike and the only spot left has a lock left there
and i worry that i have taken someones regular parking spot

it doesnt bother me enough to keep me from parking there
but bothers me nonetheless

It might bother you more when you come back and the dude locked YOUR bike with his lock! :D

i have seen that happen but luckily it has never happened to me

luckily for the person whos lock i would have to break anyways

Just in case you are serious, note that if your bike is locked where someone has left his lock, he can simply unlock his lock and use it to lock his bike in another location. In no way would it bother me if someone were to park where my lock is.

Actually, at one of my destinations, I lock my Kryptonite head-high on a small tree, because it is under eave of the grocery store and protected from the rain. I don't lock my bike there, I just unlock the lock, and use it at the nearby bike rack.

Some day the keyhole will be covered with bird's deposit :D
