Saracen Instinct DX 09 - Freewheel, chain info help

Hi all, I got a Saracen Instinct DX 09

I been looking into repairing my bike myself. I hate the thought of paying someone like Halfords when I could do it myself and learn. In my day to day life, I am always doing practical work. As I repair computers etc so I am quite good with my hands lol...

Anyway enough about me http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I bought this Freewheel which is exactly the same as my original:

Shimano 7 Speed Screw On Freewheel
Screw On Freewheel
Shimano 7 Speed index spacing
Code : MFTZ07
Teeth Ratios : 14,16,18,20,22,24,28

Was only 10.99 Delivered - Very cheap!!

What chain would be the best out of these below:

I prefer SRAM chains, but of the four you listed,I'd go with the Clarks due to the master link. I hate Shimano chains because they use a special pin to join them;it has two sections, you push it through until the one section sticks out, then snap it off. Sometimes they don't snap off cleanly and you have to file down a sharp edge. Then every time you want to remove the chain,or if you want to remove a link, you need another joining pin. Master link chains can be popped on and off by simply undoing the master link. Shimano chains also come with a light oil covering which is messy and doesn't last;SRAM and KMC have a heavy grease coating that isn't as bad and lasts longer before you need to pull out the bottle of lube.

Hey, thanks for all the info. Top man!! I ordered a HG40 so a bit late now, however could still get the clark chain. Could I just not fit a quick release master link on the HG40? So your favourite out of SRAM AND KMC is?

Yes,KMC makes master links for Shimano chains. But from looking around Halford's site,it looks like you'll wind up paying almost half what you paid for the chain for one,so might not be worth it.

SRAM,just because they're what I use and have had nothing but good experiences with them. Never really heard anything bad about KMC,just no personal experience with them.
