What's the name of this type of wheel?

Back in the States a while ago I saw people riding GT bikes with this wheel type. The main noticeable difference is three big support rims in place of spokes. The pic caption says it's a BMX wheel but that isn't specific enough as a BMX wheel encompasses many other types. Thanks for any help.

picture description says: "plastic BMX wheel"
I put that phrase into an internet search engine and the result photos all look similar.

mag wheels

I've heard them called "plastic mags".

I call them compression wheels. A conventional bicycle wire wheel is a tension wheel.

Yeah, just one type of the many 'mag' wheel types over the decades. They're called mags because the first of the kind were made from magnesium, but by the early '80s, they were made of graphite composites and other plastics. Thinking about Motomags, Skyway, Peregrine, Lester, Tuff Wheels...brings back memories!

I have some original mag wheels that look like that but mine are metal not plastic/polymer.

So suggestions include "plastic BMX wheels", "mag wheels", or "plastic mags". However, searching for these terms, I don't see any like this one that are not made by GT. Is it just a unique style of that company's?

When I was a kid, I had a BMX-bike with Tuff Wheels.
They're a five-spoke wheel tho.

So what are you looking for? Do you just want to know if that particular design is unique to GT? Or are you looking for 3 spoke mag wheels?

Google Trispoke and see if you have better luck.

Specialized (?) made a tri spoke carbon wheel,
Rev-X had 4 pairs of carbon blades,
Aerospoke have 5 carbon blades
all three are compression-type wheels

MadFiber has 12/18 carbon blades and is a tension wheel.

There's lots of unbranded plastic BMX wheels.
