I went to the seattle bike expo/swap meet

Yep I went to the expo Saturday and the Swap meet sunday and all but one bit was good. The bad bit you ask well someone swiped my swag bag while I was on a test ride so I had to go around and get new brochures for key things.

I signed up for the STP at the expo and sampled a number of fancy new over priced, even with the special expo price, sports drink mixes. They had a bike test ride area too I tried the Specialized roubaix pro(?, dura ace at any rate), s-works tarmac, and stumpjumper expert I thought the tarmac was much nicer and more stable than the roubaix and the stumpjumper far superior to my 13y.o. hardtail. Also I don't really care for the carbon bike feel or sound (not sure which)

The swap was great like ebay but you get to inspect everything, ask questions, and avoid shipping charges.
I got a large(120 C.I.) seat wedge bag for $2, a nearly new ultegra 600 rear derailer for $5, a new 39t chain ring for $5, a good seamless 27" x 1-1/4 inner tube for $1.50(new), an apparently unused seven speed Sunrace freewheel(13-28) for $3, Shimano RX100 cranks 165mm (with new 42t/53t wheels)(part number FC A551) for $18, and campy clamp-on downtube shifters for $15(good condition and the only clamp-ons in the place) to replace those stupid stem shifters(my knees shift gears on hills).

I wanted a set of 175 cranks as well but all I found were 175 left sides(???) as I want to see just what I like length wise. Also I found no crank brothers eggbeater family pedals exept for a platform set that weighed a couple of pounds. Lots of look, spd, and some time though. A lot of nice frames as well but that's not in my deck right now. There were a ton of ridged MTB and some road forks for $5 but I couldn't recall my MTB's steer tube length

Damn, I missed it again. Missed last year too. If I ask real nice maybe some one might post the date for next years in time to get train tickets. Sorry to hear about the rip-off, glad you got some stuff.

Sounds nice! I was going to go, but I didn't want to spend the $7 to get in (yes, I'm that cheap). Next year I will, though.

I went skiing for two days on Mount Rainier instead. Inside, crowds, and commerce, not my thing for weekend recreation.
