Energy bars that won't "melt" in the Texas heat

I really like some of the Power bars, energy bars, and LifeChoice bars.. BUT, after being exposed to the Texas heat during a ride, they are not so enjoyable. Any suggestions for energy bar-type food that won't turn to mush during my rides?

Have you tried Lara bars? I've had them after a hot day in the car and they were still great!

Your grocery store likely has an entire section dedicated to granola bars ... experiment with some of them.

Clif bars seem to handle the heat fairly well. If you ride with a Camelbak, stick your energy bars inside, next to the bladder to stay cool.

You'll need a rack for this, but at least you could still eat the bars you like and have a place to carry extra water. https://www.amazon.com/Avenir-Metro-I...ated+trunk+bag

I agree with the LaraBars. So far, they're my favorites on a ride...Taste's great too. I really like the Cherry Pie. All it needs is some ice cream when its warm...haha

Ugh, nothing worse than a gel at 120 degrees after toasting in your jersey pocket.

Clif bars hold together well.

if you ride with a camelbak ever (I do on really long, water-free routes) you can put stuff in the pouch with the water and it'll stay slightly cool.

I use Clif Shot Bloks. They are "gummies" that don't melt...they're 95% organic...and they come in several flavors, each having it's own "special use". Margarita flavor for instance has 3x sodium to help prevent cramping. I personally use the Mountain Berry Shot Bloks, as they have no additional additives. When they get delivered to my house they sit on the front step, in the sun, until I realize that they've been delivered. That's usually a few hours. And they never melt. They also feel sticky but dont leave a sticky residue on your fingers. Each pack comes with 2 servings (6 bloks), and boxes of 26 packs run $26-$44. I get mine at runoutlet.com as they're about $26 per box and that includes free 1-2 day shipping.

I bring biscotti. Every energy bar on the market is pretty much just a gourmet cookie anyway. Biscotti are dry Italian cookies available with a variety of ingredients. Vanilla with almonds works for me. Meal replacement bars from Nutribar are higher in calorie count but OK too if you avoid the chocolate or yogurt coated ones.

Can I add avocados to your list? About as many calories as an energy bar, loads of vitamins and minerals, and less sugar than most fruits. Fruits and vegetables in general transport best whole, unpeeled, and in that condition also handle heat pretty good.
