Mountains + Rain

Hey

I'll be traveling to Thailand in September and plan on bringing my road bike to climb some mountains up North. It will be hot and it will be raining. Anyone have suggestions on what to wear in these conditions?

Thanks

Cycle rain capes keep the rain on the outside, but being an open tent like thing..
are open underneath for reasonable ventilation ..

they are cones not rectangles, to not flap a lot .. waist tie and finger loops inside.

Ps you need Mudguards in the bike to catch wheel spray.

Other than that , think :HTFU, this is not Belgium in March you are talking about.

Wear regular cycling kit and get wet. If it's a bit cool, put a windproof vest on and maybe a helmet cover (hotel freebee showercap). You'll get soaked from sweat wearing anything waterproof.

Thanks. I'll look into the cape though I am leaning more towards Looigis advice. I have two months to prepare and figure this all out.

Surf sandals and platform pedals. They drain well and can be worn with or without socks. You're going to get wet - if its hot - don't worry about it.

Hi,

My seatbag always contains a 100% waterproof breathable windproof.

I prefer full toeclips and waterproof breathable sturdy walking shoes to
more specific bike stuff for my road bike. I use waterproof breathable
lighter weight walking boots with my plain pedalled folding bike.

rgds, sreten.

+1 to the comment from Looigi. If you will be doing day trips up Doi Intanon or Doi Sutep and you've a room to come back to , you can't go wrong. I'll be there from November to begin a tour. Enjoy. Oh and as you said, in September there will be rain. It will be fun

Thats rad man. I've yet to do a traditional bike tour there. I normally bring my BMX out there and travel with the locals. This will be the first year on the road bike. A little bummed that it will be the rainy season but at least it will be pretty epic.
