i have no experience with guns
but it seems to me that you would carry a gun
the same way you carry any other small to medium size object
that you need to access quickly while on a bike

you would carry it in a messenger bag
perhaps sew a pocket or holster in one corner of the bag

I have known a couple of fellows to carry their little NAA .22 revolvers on a string around their necks. The stainless guns should have no problems with sweat/corrosion.

That leaves the question of whether you should consider yourself "armed" when carrying an NAA .22 revolver, but there you go.

Wipe down your gun when you get home at the end of the ride and sweat shouldn't be a problem. Just carry a silicone cloth with you.

I have carried one of those in .22 mag before. Definitely my last choice of something to carry though. I think a knife would be more effective against a an assailant but having a noisemaker like that could be good to scare away animals.

Can you hit with the damn thing? I shoot Master in NRA action, but for me, anything past 15 yards or so with a 2" .38 gets kind of iffy. So I doubt my ability to do much with the NAA revolver...

Non issue for me. My Taurus is composite body with stainless steel slide. If you clean on a regular basis a bit of sweat isn't going to be an issue.

I usually stay out of these type threads they can go political and straight down in a new york second.

But, when you mentioned NRA action, I had to comment. I shot in NRA 2700 point 3 gun competition for many years.. Use to shoot at Quantico Marine Base every weekend. Takes a lot of practice to hit accurately with a handgun. I use to dryfire for 3 to 4 hours a day, along with live fire . Trigger control and sight picture has to be practiced to attain and become a habit.

When I did carry, it was a 1911 with an extra clip, and a 22 Hi Standard Derr in my boot. My sub-culture demanded it. Since I am not in my sub-culture anymore, I don't dare carry anymore. I try to avoid places or areas where one would be in danger. Even did some stints at hunting with a handgun. No problem hitting with my 1911, as that is what I used in 45 and center fire matches. But, I also could take the Hi Standard 22 mag double action derringer and keep all the shots in the black at 25 yards with a two handed hold, that is on the standard NRA 25 yard timed and rapid fire target.. During that time,(1960s) IMO, the 22 mag pack more punch then the standard 38 special which what the police at the time were carrying. In my 1911, I used my own loads of 7.2 unique behind my hard cast 210 gr bullets. Real potent in case I had to use it.

Like I said those were the days. I missed the gunsmoke, the smell of freshly fluxed lead in my lyman pot.. oh boy. .My buddies and I used to have casting days. We would go to the local range, dig out the pits. Take the recovered bullets, melt them down, clean up the lead, put them in ingots. Then to the scrap metal shops, get lino-type, melt that down. My bullet mixture would be according to what gun and use. Target was 8 to 2. 8 recovered lead to 2 linotype. Hunting in my model 29 was 8 linotype to 2 recovered..

Dam, that was good going down memory lane..

Snark deserves snark, which is why I was snarky in responding to your original post.

Calvary that used rifles or bows needed both hands to fire; however, Calvary officers used handguns which can easily be fired with one hand, leaving the other for the reins (or handlebar in this case). Since all U.S. concealed carry permits only cover handguns it is a obvious which I was referring to. Of course, none of that matters to the OP question as to how he should transport his concealed carry, which was the point of the post, not an opportunity for you (or others) to show your lack of understanding about the why he might be interested in doing so or under what conditions he might feel such carry was warranted.

There was a similar incident in January 2013. Almost a year to the day of the one in the news article. Hit in the head with a beer bottle that took him off the bike. Then jumped by a youth who stabbed him several times with a pocket knife. The incident this year was after dark when two men on bicycles tried to pass by a group of about 15 youths in that spot.

I rode that section of the Thun Trail up until several years ago when one fat kid out of a group of 5 youths stated he was going "to knock the old man off the bike and take it". This is a narrow section of the trail. No escape routes to avoid such an incident. I dumped the bike and hauled out the S&W .45 on my hip. That ended the threat. Our city police are getting back into bicycle patrols and will be riding that area of the Thun Trail as will the Berks County Sheriffs Deputies.

The section of the Thun Trail between Lancaster Ave. and Reading Area Community College is commonly used by groups of youths from a govt. housing project near the trail. The groups going to and from the housing project have long been a problem to trail users.
Then we had some guy riding a pink BMX trying to rob and **** women trail users. Another would simply follow women with his bicycle and curse at them constantly.
Then there were groups on ATVs and small motorcycles that would use the trail and force other trail users to get off the trail.

I have been doing trail maintenance on the section below Reading.

Your personal view of having any form of weapon on a MUP must be judged by where you ride. Some trail areas are best avoided. It is a sad state of affairs when we allow groups of thugs to determine where we can go and when we can go. I am 71. My wife is 72. We do between 2,000 and 2,500 miles a year of local MUPs. I am not about to get into a fist fight with one or more young thugs.
