Bike Trainer Suggestion - Already Recent Thread?

I'm sure this question gets asked from time to time but I don't see a recent thread. If you know of one please let me know and I'll go there.....

OK.... thinking of getting a trainer to ride as weather (I'm a wuss) won't allow. I'll set my laptop up so I can watch a movie, etc. and get in some spinning. I've been looking a bit at youtube and it appears there valid options are fluid and magnetic with some of them having the ability to control resistance which sounds like a good idea, do most use that feature?

So, how about a good model/brand where I can control the resistance and one where I cannot? I don't need high-end, just a decent one will do.

Not sure if it matters but I have a hybrid now and will be getting a road bike next (2014) fall.

This question is usually asked in the Training and Nutrition forum.

There's a thread right at the top there about trainers ...
