Help me choose frame paint colors

I'm going to be painting my 71 triumph fixie in a few weeks time. At first I was going to paint it red but I didn't want to be a cliche so I went with a blue color. I thought I might want to take advantage of the lugs on the frame and paint them a contrasting color such as chrome. I learned that chrome plating would be complicated and decided to just go with a full blue color. I'm still having trouble deciding the shade of blue though. All I'm asking is for you to post pics of your favorite paint jobs on steel lug frames. Try to keep it in the blue family.

TIA,

Josh

I always get compliments everywhere I go with this paint job. Not blue, but then again, I'm too old for "flashy".

I get compliments on my old Fuji's paint color quite often - I've never personally seen another S-10S in this color! It is almost a candy color, and needs to painted over a white or silver to 'pop'. It has thin gold striping around the lugs that match the downtube decal. These pics were taken on a cloudy day in the shade, and do not do the color justice!

One of the nicest paint jobs I ever saw was a fixie with immaculate matte black frame and muted gold details/graphics. And the bike frame was an old Huffy!

I don't know if I have the courage to do it myself, but I've thought about taking off decals and painting with several weird colors so it won't get stolen. lol

I've done a couple rattle-can jobs; found out, at that level, that Krylon was about the best.

My nephew's old bike was done in Krylon's recently discontinued "Anodized" product, makes a nice finish, but he managed to scratch it up pretty easily, even with a clearcoat, so durability is...yeah, crappy.

I had a thought once about doing a frame in a myriad of colors; just hang the frame vertically from the headtube, and just let the paint fall where it would by gravity, maybe with some spatter effects........

Why do the British drink warm beer? Lucas makes their refrigerators.......

Now, back on topic............. I always thought Chevrolet Marina Blue Metallic would be a great color for a bike. It really sets off black, chrome and aluminum trim.

OR.... how about this color? It's a 1965 GM color known most commonly as Iris Mist or Evening Orchid.

As a kid [in circa 1962], I used black primer , then a transparent green color coat .
so the black had a green patina ..

paint technology has made vast leaps since then ..

how about prismatic paint ?,

the color you see depends on the angle you are viewing the paint job from ..

Actually, that color is really appealing to me. Can you show the complete bike please? Thank you.

You are the only person on the planet that will ever say that about this bike! Haha Anyways, no completed pics just another semi-built one. I went to the local bike guy to hunt fenders, a rack, and a few other things.

I love it!! I think I'll go with that color then but with a higher quality paint. Can I see a close up of the fork dropouts and BB?
