Looking for a new project (bike) to build, anyone got any suggestions? :D

I do have a bit of money so that's not the issue, I'd love to hear what you guys have to say. Just say whatever you think sounds good e.g race bmx, full sus mtb or even a fatbike

I love doing projects like that but it sounds to me like you're going about it backwards.

First, think about what you want to do with the bike - where and how you picture yourself riding it. Then you simply go shopping for a frame that matches that use relative to tire size or whatever.

For whatever reason, when people talk about Surly, Soma and Salsa they rarely mention Pake (or even Origin8). One different idea I was contemplating lately was a Pake C'Mute and put bullhorn bars on it like a "tarck bike". You know like put different color tires, saddle, grip tape etc.

If you google "tarck bike" and click on the image tab, it's pretty cool. These people really have style. hehe

I'd like one with derailleurs though instead of single speed.

This. The risk with just building something random for the sake of it, is that after all that work you may not end up liking it or riding it much. Of course, there's always the chance that it'll be your new favorite bike...

I would build up a classic vintage frame in the style you like with vintage or modern parts. Try converting a mountain bike to a road/touring bike.

One possibility is to simply keep your eyes open locally, on this site, and ebay. When a cool bike pops up, buy it and have fun with it. That way, you're open to whatever comes your way that looks like fun.

Check out the Atomic Zombie website for lots of great bike projects. This is a readers project, the "Shorty" by Fredtron.

Thanks, I think I'm going to do that. Just look around locally, and see what kinda stuff I can find at a good price!
