Today was a good day!
Today was the first time since I got rid of my old Miyata, that I felt good riding my bike. After being duped and XXXXXX, I think I finally got everything right on my own.
My last visit to my LBS yielded disheartening results. I know, from what I've been through already, why go to the same shop? I mean, a wheel truing can't be that hard? I went to go pick up my bike and it was still out of true. The guy said my wheel was oblong and he had to deal with that. I shouldn't be too concerned about the small wobble it has now, because he adjusted the breaks so it doesn't rub and you can't feel it when you're riding. SMH, but that wasn't the kicker. He then said "I just can't figure out your drive train, you'll just have to get that 9 speed shifter so we can work it out". I then asked him, you mean the 9 speed cassette and chain you sold and installed on my 8 speed bike, is that what you're referring to?
Anyway...I got home and started reading intensely on derailleur adjustment and did the job myself. A guy I see at the trail sold to me a nice Bontrager disc SSR wheel (back) and Bontrager RACE AW Plus tire for $40. I put my 8 speed cassette on that wheel and now everything is fine! A little turn of the barrel and my shifting is now smooth. I've added a Selle SMP TRK saddle and I didn't want to leave the trail today. Remember, this is the same 8 speed cassette the store said was faulty. Which intern started the spending spree on a new cassette and 9 speed chain, not to mention paying for the adjustment of everything.
The money I spent was a lesson learned, book it!

When I gathered some strength together, I did go back to the store and asked if they could at least switch the 9 speed cassette for an 8 speed cassette and I'll still keep the 9 speed chain, since that's not going a affect anything. The guy told me it was my bike and that I should have known what speed it was before I purchased it. When he said that, I literally just walked back out the door before I got into trouble. I really had to hold back from saying and doing something, so I just left without a word.
I will have to link you to the thread I started for you to have the complete story, it really is more to this than just what I mentioned here. I'm happy now and as of yesterday, it is over. My bike rides great and I can finally get back to losing weight!
The one bike shop mechanic found out I had the wrong stuff when he tried to help the guy that sold me the stuff install it. So yes, they said give me your wallet and we'll help you.
