Threaded or non-threaded CO2 canisters?

I recently bought a CO2 inflator in case of flats and it came with one non-threaded 12g canister. The inflator supposedly takes non threaded and threaded canisters as long as they are 12g. I also have a threaded inflator in case that turns out to be false. But what are the advantages and disadvantages of threaded and non threaded canisters?

Thanks,

Josh

An advantage to threaded is the campatability with an air chuck if you want to go minimal.

Non threaded are a lot cheaper and available lots of places. They are used to make soda water. I think nitrous oxide comes in the same size cylinder. It's used to make whipped cream, and as a drug of abuse by teeny boppers. Theoretically it should work although I never heard of anyone using it. Makes your tires giggle.

You can go to Walmart or just about any big box store and buy a box of 24 unthreaded 12g CO2 cartridges for about the cost of 3 16g threaded cartridges from the LBS. That's enough reason for me. ;-)

Or you could buy a box of 24 threaded for the same price as unthreaded on Amazon.
