Gel shorts

Even though I've been a consistent and avid cyclist (Road, mountain, touring) for 30 years, I still find that i can only do a long day in the saddle if I wear some thin gel pad shorts. The only ones I've found that aren't too thick are the Novara Metro gel shorts mens. It seems that REI no longer carries them for men, just the woman's version. Does anybody know of a riding short with a thin gel pad? The thicker pads are like riding a soft saddle - they get really hot and promote friction.

I'm surprised anyone still sells shorts with gel padding. Have you tried something other than gel?

Gel pads are of the devil.

They are evil.

There are many other pads that allow long time in the saddle.

The best 'budget' bib short is the Performance Elite :http://www.performancebike.com/bikes...400065__400065

Price depends on when you buy. The Ultra is even better.

The only 'gel' product I can recommend is Specialized Bar Phat. http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb...metry-bar-phat
