First ride this year

I simply do not like to ride when it is cold. Yes of course you can bundle up like the Michelin man, but that is not my bag. Yesterday all of a sudden it was 78 degrees here in Lincoln, and I did one of my usual 30 mile rides. It was great to get out on the trike again and see what has changed.

The down side tho was to see all the trash and leaves in the dry wash storm drains. As usual I always hope for a gully washer heavy rain in the spring to wash away all the gravel and trash on the streets.

Now a rant! ---------------- I really wish a law would be passed to ban plastic water bottles. Much of the trash at the curbs and in storm drains are plastic water bottles. I guess I dont understand why in the last 10 years or so everyone seems to think they cant live if they are not carrying around a bottle of water.

I am glad you got out for a ride... I look forward to doing the same some time in the next couple of weeks.

Around here I see more beer cans than water bottles. Unfortunately, I think there are certain people that will litter no matter what.

As I was driving home last night I saw someone pull something out of a plastic bag from the grocery store, and threw the bag on the ground and start unwrapping whatever was inside. I'm guessing that wrapper was just thrown on the ground as well.

It ticks me off even more when I see trash in remote areas, where I would expect for people to be enjoying the scenery and in theory understand the need to keep it beautiful. When I see litter in places like that, I tend to pick it up and carry it out.

First of all, my in-laws live in Lincoln, so hi kind of neighbor! Very jealous you all out there are getting warmer weather, if it hits 50 up here in the northeast I'll be excited (anything 45 and above I can ride pretty comfortably with only a single layer or two).

There's a town here in MA that has banned plastic bottles, it's definitely a real movement.

Tomorrow is my first day of riding this year. It's going to be 63 and sunny so I'm of course taking the day off! Plan on doing some fly fishing also.

I can't stand litter either. If I see someone doing it, I get right up in their face and tell them what a piece of crap I think they are. You don't see a ton of that going on here in the PNW, but it happens. Cyclists tend to be a large offender of this with dropping gel packets and energy bar wrappers. Irritates me to no end.

That's awesome! We've banned plastic bags, but not bottles. I may have to start my own movement!

Collect them and cash them in for $0.10 each. If there are really so many, you might be able to buy some new cycling stuff.

Nebraska doesn't have container deposit/redemption. Only 10 states do.
