T.E.T. Cycles' Thomas Teesdale

I can no longer get in contact with him and was wondering if anyone here knows anything. If something happened to him I don't know if his current customers would get contacted, so I'm doing my best to find out what's going on without jumping to any conclusions.

I realize that this thread is a few months old, but I just stopped by his shop last Friday. He's still around and agreed to build me a frame. I'm guessing he got sick of being trashed by a couple haters online and cut back on the internet presence.

Just saw this in another bike forum:

Well, I can finally forget about my deposit. So that's closure. Never commission through a one person shop if you can help it. I know, that's rather cold. I think I'm over custom frames anyway unless I someday get motivated enough to make my own.

Deposit large enough to be worth the effort to try contacting his estate?

It might be, but I don't think I can burden the family with that. A couple months ago I gave up on the frame and the shop in disgust. The family just contacted me today about one of the unopened parts I'd sent for it, so I'll be glad to at least get back whatever they can find. Otherwise I wouldn't have known that he'd passed away.

Sounds like the family is trying to do the right thing. It is a real struggle to deal with a situation like that. Been there, on BOTH sides of the situation.

Sadly, no. Having heard nothing at all back from his son regarding the rack or any other finds, I finally called him, and he directed me toward the estate's lawyer. The estate was insolvent, so rather than just send me my part(s), he sold them off. Class act. According to the lawyer I have virtually no chance of any kind of reimbursement.
