My bluetooth speaker fits in my cup holder!
It's a great speaker too (amazing bass - it's called the JBL Charge). I hooked it up to my iphone using a cable but I could have just as easily done it wirelessly (works very well that way in fact)...I just wanted to see how well it worked using the cable. Anyway it was SO nice to ride today on a paved long cycling trail through a nature reserve/wetlands right across from downtown and along the river...while watching the river glisten in the late-afternoon sun and watching the rowers row and cherry blossoms cherry and geese goosing each other in the grass while I listened to Goldfrapp 7th Tree. Highly recommend this method if you like to hear music as you go.

I like to hear music as I go but I don't like to make everybody around me hear it as well. Be conscious of that nice peaceful picture you painted of the trees and geese and then somebody else's music being inserted. Not everybody wants to hear it.
Saying that I've also hooked my bluetooth speaker up in certain areas to listen to a ballgame, etc. I try to use it only when I'm on remote stretches basically by myself.

Haha yes - I'm sorry I didn't mention that - I keep it low and I don't ride when there are a lot of people near me! I don't think it's safe when people wear earbuds while riding which is not to say I think people have the right to pollute the air (so others can hear) with their own music, either.
But hey - back to my original point - it's a speaker in a cup-holder!!
