Have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend and holiday.

For those of you travelling this weekend, please have a safe trip to and from home. For those of you riding, including yours truely, have a safe ride.

Remember to honor those who are no longer with us and have passed on to a better place then we are right now. Both our military veterans and other loved ones as well.

So please be safe, be careful and have fun this weekend and holiday.

For the UK and one assumes the rest of the former English colonies (with the execption of the USA), the holiday is next weekend, and as it's the Queens Golden Jubilee (50 years on the throne) we get a double holiday ! So no work until Wednesday.

It's enough to make you a Royalist.

(A dreadful though just crossed my mind, imagine the USA had Presidents for life, George Dubwa Bush for the next 50 years !)

Here in canada our long weekend was LAST weekend, Victoria Day, the Queen's Birthday.I actually thought they celebrated that in the UK on the same weekend. I know that other countries like Australia and NZ have Victoria Day but it's some other time, can't remember when.

Hopefully at least SOME of you will have decent weather. Our long weekend just sucked, cold and rainy- last year I remember it was beautiful! It's usually when people have their first barbecue, but so much for that. However, since then the weather has improved. Hope everyone gets in some good rides wherever you are!

Watched Blue Oyster Cult last night at Herrin Fest.Weather held out and it was a great show.Hope to get a ride in today or tomorrow.I would like to take a spin to a small cemetery where some old friends and family are laid to rest.Never rode to a cemetery before but I thought it might go with the holiday.

Happy Memorial Day (odd phrase, that) to all, and in general a happy and peaceful weekend for the rest of our friends and comrades around the world!

The missus and I celebrated last night with a few friends. An unhealthy amount of carbs and sugar was consumed, along with nearly five bottles of wine and one bottle of spirits. The festivities included a fast and furious game of 'Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon', a movie (From Hell; passable, but Alan Moore's graphic novel was superior), and much good-natured insult from which none present (and a few who weren't) were immune. Fortunately we made ourselves clean up directly afterward though it were the wee hours of the morning when the party ended, so the apartment doesn't quite look like the site of a frat-house kegger now. Good thing -- I slept badly due to over-indulgence and that damned movie, and have no business getting up as early as I did.

As to cycling opportunities: Zippo. It rained for a goodly portion of the day yesterday though it's lovely and sunny this morning. All moot; I won't be released to ride for perhaps another week at best. I envy all who get to spend at least a portion of their weekend in the saddle. I'm half-afraid I'll have forgotten how!

Here's to a safe weekend for all, wherever you are!
