TREK ANTILOPE 800 18 speed

Found this bike at my local thrift store, it was taged at 24.95 when I got to the cashier she charged me $12.85 I asked her about it and she said everything with the little red tag was 50% OFF,,, man could'nt believe it , Bike is in fair condition but won't take much to get it to real good or at least good condition,,,, 26" x 1.50 wheels with 18 speeds ,,,spun the wheels and they are true ,,,,, TREK ANTILOPE 800 , bike #6 ,,,oh well.... only thing I don't recognize the back derailler,,,,, EXAGE COUNTRY?? I think it some kind of shimano

Well seems like I'm gonna have to rebuild the BB on this bike,, gotta get the right pin spanner everything else seems OK,,,,,,,,

You sure? I've taken out a lot of BBs using pointy nose pliers.

$12.85! Shouldn't you have at lease tried to negotiate the price with her?

I've used allen wrenches in place of a pin spanner. Not too hard to improvise something. Since they're so cheap and easy, there's a good chance you'll replace the bottom bracket with a cartridge unit like a Shimano UN26 or UN55. If you do, you wouldn't need a pin spanner to put the bike back together. (You would need a bottom bracket tool, though.)

Thank you dog,,,, but like I said I'm building a bike tool bag and I'll probably use the BB tool more than the spanner but i'ma get it....
