there used to be a thread floating around about your best "homemade" bike solution. didnt want to revive it but just felt like i should brag about my $30-saving effort. i had some pain on the outside of my right foot while cycling, and threw everything but the kitchen sink at it, saddle position, cleat position, velcro tightness, etc. no dice. then i come across the lemond wedge something-or-other, and decided that elmer's glue might do the trick. so i apply layer after layer of elmer's glue to the cleat where it makes contact with the shoe, progressively shortening the layers to the side of the cleat opposite the pain, and bingo, after about 8 layers i've got a nice polymer wedge for about a penny, and most importantly no foot pain.
i did, it kept getting knocked loose tho as i fidgeted to get clip into the pedal.. but either way i'm surprised lemond's product even exists other than to give people like me the idea to do it themselves
