Did you name your bike??
Like some people name their cars.
'So why not bikes?
I did...
Her name is Chelsea..

Anyways i think its not too uncommon for people to name and emotionally anthropomorphize inanimate objects....

The only time a bike of mine was named was a about 12 years ago. A Mongoose from Wally World. Thing was trouble from day one. Was also saying it was a cheap piece of junk. Wife thought it would be fun(ny) to call it Junkie. Don't know where she got it, but she got a clear sticker with yellow lettering proudly announcing "Junkie" to put on the bike.

No... I'm new to cycling and loving it... But you got me thinking- why not??? Ok, I must think of a name. It can't be just any name. The next time I ride, I will see if the bike "speaks" to me, like the day I bought her. Maybe she will tell me her name.
Funny thing is I do know SHE is certainly a girl!

I named the very first ten speed (a ten speed nishiki my father bought me in the 70s) but I have never named a bike since then until well just this week. I did an mtb to drop bar conversion. The bike rides great but it is clearly a tank, lol, and so it got a name:

I don't name my bikes beyond the labels on them since they were made. But I do admit that while writing one article about riding local mountain bike trails on my 25 year old streetified Hard Rock, I did see myself as a bit of an old fool like the Man of La Mancha, so it made sense to regard my bike as Rocinante, imagining it to be a fine warhorse while it was really an old plowhorse.

Rocinante is a great name and a heck of a lot more interesting than the name I came up with for my old warhorse. There is some very fine riding in AR but it has been a while since I've been in the Ozarks.

I jokingly told my wife that i would be naming my new bike (Trek 7.3 FX) "Spock" or "Star"

However, I've never been one to name inanimate objects. I play guitar(s) and none of them have names, other than make/model or sometimes color (like: blue Stratocaster)

The SO named her new Fuji "Black Blossom". I've been meaning to name my Trek 1200 after something quick or messenger related, but couldn't make a decision. I'd considered this: Ratatoskr - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mountain Bike - Bike with no name (I've been through the dessert on a "bike" with no name...)
Touring Bike - Peaches
Road Bike - Zoey

I had a road bike named Barney, but I sold it.

I have a total of 18 bikes (all vintage but 2) but I've only named 2 of them. I named my 1935 Excelsior Tall Frame "Tool Tall Arnold"

and my 2014 Trek Domane "Vic," as in Vic Damone.

A bunch of other forum a-holes kept taunting him so of course the admin's solution was to ban him. Pretty bogus really.

My Bianchi is named Beatrix ... I also named my car and motorcycle... My other bicycles were un-named though. It takes a lot of material love to name your vehicle.

Yeah I saw that too, but how are points earned/acquired? Unless a bunch of OP's posts were deleted recently I can't see anything he said that was ban-worthy, much less so than a lot of the patently unkind comments directed *at* him from other BF members.

So the OP likes to make a lot of threads? That's what this place is for. The fact that a bunch of other jerks took it as carte blanche to be dicks to him is total BS.

Admin has final say and all, but I'm with Koto. Not seeing what went wrong, which is bad because that could be me next.

I haven't named my own, but I"m trying to get my future brother in law into cycling. He bought a black Trek from a friend of mine and named it "La Flama Negro." In case you don't know, it's a play off of Kenny F'n Powers' nickname in Eastbound and Down.

There was another "name your bike" thread, and at the time I had a safety yellow 16" Dahon classic, who acquired the name Daisy, for some reason(she has since been sold though). Her bigger brother, Donald(still in my possession) got the name for... obvious reasons. Nothing else has casually picked up a name though.

I normally don't name bikes but my buddy tagged my Flat Bar the "Stealth Fighter". (USAF's F-117). It kind of looks like it's gonna stick.
