We decided to go for it, since our agent told us we had "rider" in place for this kind of thing, and we would get replacement value minus $500 deductible. Six months later, we got a letter from SF that our homeowner's insurance policy was being canceled because of "too many claims." It was a nightmare finding another company to insure our home; The Hartford came through for us. We will never file another claim for a "low-ticket" item like a couple bikes.
State Farm ,and a few other mega companies, cancel when ever they have to pay more than one claim. This is a cowardly way to scare the policy holders into not filing honest claims. There are companies that give the insured a more honorable claim experience just shop for them.

I'm going to look into this rider thing with State Farm. I tired velosurance and it was 12.50 a month or 150 a year which is more than my renters insurance that covers me for 15k worth of losses.

And my bike is 2200 full msrp right now.

When you ask for a rider (on anything) as for a "all hazard" rider to cover everything with no deduct.

Just got back from state farm office, rider insurance is 200 per year. Passed on it, my bike is covered thru my homeowners with replacement cost minus deductible of 500 bucks.

If it get stolen from the house I get for example the blue book value minus a 500 deductible.

I'm more concerned about an injury claim from somebody I accidentally hurt than the cost of losing a bike.

Do you need a different insurance company??

Hello... I was wondering with what carrier you currently insure 5 bikes for just $50 a year? I'd like to look into insurance my bikes with the same carrier.

Thank you.

When you shop for bike ins do it as a "rider" to your home or renters policy.

Thank you Nightshader. I understand what a "rider" is, but I am wondering who your insurance carrier is that offers replacement cost coverage at such a competitive rate. Can you share with me which carrier you insure with?

Thank you.

Are they covered much under a normal home owners insurance policy? They both cost around $600 and our deductible is $500. We use State Farm. Thanks!
They can be added as a separate policy. I just did this, cost me $30 a year with $0 deductible. Your agent may not know about it, mention doing it as it's own policy.
