Best times of year for highest number of used bikes available for sale?
At which times during the year are the most used bikes available for sale? Aside from university graduation, during which many students who are traveling far from their campus sell their bikes, when are generally the best times? After summer and before holiday shopping when people want to sell their old bikes and upgrade?
Looking to pick up a mid-level hardtail 29er mountain bike, and while I'll keep my eyes open in general, I'm wondering when might be the best times to find the most models to be able to compare them.

Here in Korea its about the spring time when the snow melts. People start wanting to buy then so sellers generally make more of an effort.

I would imagine the best time would coincide with the best time to buy new bikes, since those people buying the new bikes will be selling the old ones. Early Spring is also a good time to find bike swap meets.

if you live near a college town Id say now. Many students need money to get home or don't have room in their car to haul it back. Pawn shops a good place to look into

Here in the Netherlands I believe dealers will offer discounts on last year's models in October or November ... but I could be mistaken.

IMHO - the spring bike shop "swaps" often have been the best time,
people are often trying to sell their old model for their latest fancy.
we often used the swaps to equip our growing kids with a better fitting
bike, selling the out grown bike to help support the next one.
that, said; we couldn't find a good fit earlier this spring for our 15 yo,
however we did score a nice deal on a left over cx bike. Not sure
why this bike was hanging around, optimistic dealer stocking ?
He has really taken to this bike, fits him well, rode it to school a
few times (26 km rt with 1500' climbing), he usually rides about
2000 km/yr. hopefully we can make it two years before needing
another bike swap.
