Lock ruins teh silhouette
I want a quality, reliable bike lock for a vintage racer bike. But i hate the way it makes the bike look, it ruins the bike silhouette. Carrying it on myself would be too straining, too heavy and i don't wear bags/backpacks.
So, which lock would you recommend that is quality, reliable, not heavy, and not massive?

I guess the only way around it is to never let the bike leave your possession.

Abus Bordo uses a pouch you fit instead of one of the water bottles , it folds. has strong rivet-pivots .
but the profile of a stolen bike will be transparent. . never let it out of your hands as said above ..

If you don't like the way a lock looks on your bike and you don't want to wear a bag to hold it, you are quickly eliminating options. A rack with a trunk rack could do the trick of holding a lock; or you could get a jandd mountain wedge iii (it holds a lot and it's easy to take off the bike when you don't need it).

Oh, you have on TiGr? How do you like it? I'd looked into one during the kickstarter, but my money was needed elsewhere.

I love mine (standard length 3/4") - it's trivial to transport, a good match for my titanium frame, and works well enough.

I like the TiGr lock but it seems that they are meant primarily for females? A quick glance at their website front page https://tigrlock.com i only see females, which is a bit of a deterrent for people who don't like to think of themselves as effeminate.
But i also like that the TiGr is non-black. Black color mismatches with many other colors, whereas this lock is metallic color, which goes with pretty much anything.

Get the wide one if you're worried about 3' bolt cutter attacks, and as a bonus, the augmented size may help you overcome those nagging feelings of inadequacy surrounding your masculinity..

Gee! "I LOVE my bike and I don't want it stolen, but I hate locks!" What am I going to do**********"
Bottom line is; LOCK IT OR LOSE IT !!! Your choice. Vanity or security. Nuff Said.
I'll be waiting for all of whiners and P&M'ers to chime in.

In all seriousness though, if you're riding in regular street clothes, u-lock in the back pocket or through a rear belt loop works really well! It just disappears, you don't feel it at all once you're on the bike. I was skeptical until I tried it, now it automatically goes in the belt. Even when riding with a backpack, I stick it in the belt, keeps the weight off your shoulders, where you'll feel it more.
Another option is that if you're riding to commute, you're most likely locking up in the same place every day. If that's the case, I''d buy something big, strong, and heavy (Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit 5' Chain 1415 & Disc Lock in Tree Fort Bikes Chain Locks (cat1171)), and just leave it locked up at the rack.
