no seat tube ccm frame?
Hi all
I am new. I got my self a hand me down ccm bike. I noticed that the frame does not have seat tube. Is this a standard ccm design? can anybody determine the model?

Looks like a clever (?) MTB design utilizing oversized specially-shaped top and down tubes and without a seat tube. There have plenty plenty of 'unusual' MTB frames over the years.

What I thought was a lug on the bottom was just the right pedal. Very strange design though.

The idea was that without the seat tube, there was some vertical flex to be had. In theory it made for a more comfortable ride. It also made for a less structurally sound design, but I have no idea if there were ever any issues. In any case, it's an example of another bright idea in practice.

Hi all
thanks for the insight. I am not familiar with modern bikes. The frame is bit large for me, so I was thinking of replacing it later with a smaller frame. If I find another smaller rigid frame, are the components mostly compatible? The bike is mostly for commuting 2km or so. Right now cost is the most important consideration. As is I can still use the bike after I adjusted the saddle, oiled and repack the bearings etc.

Have to wonder if the seat and chainstays alone are strong enough. I wouldn't want to ride it, but then again I'm also 90kg.
