Will 700x28's be okay on my Roubaix?
1 Attachment(s)
My Roubaix SL4 came with 25's. I actually went from 23's to 28's on my Trek. Do you think going to 28's on the Roubaix will be an issue? I just like the wider tires and more contact patch. I have a brand new set of Gatorskin 28's here I got for the Trek and never installed.
I don't think clearance will be an issue. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=397089 |
Probably take you 5 minutes to find out....

Check for clearance at the tops and sides of the fork and stays. Also vertical clearance under the brake.
As a guide to estimating, consider that a tire gets taller by the change in width (since it can't expand toward the rim, it's all added to the top), and by half the change in width to each side. Use this only for estimating because there's plenty of variation in the actual width of various tires with the same nominal width. Also consider that you can work very close vertically (radially) since this doesn't change, but you want to allow some extra room to the sides for a wheel that might become misaligned out on the road. |
I will try and fit soon. I'm sure LBs will swap the Gatorskins for 25's as long as I do not use them.
