Cool, looks like you'd be given plenty of room by passing motorists.

Hmmm, something tells me he'd go faster if all that leg-energy were to go into driving the wheels directly....

I saw a device like that at a Human Powered Boats championship in SoCal. Two fans. One to give lift to the hover-boat and the other for thrust. 16 knots speed, about as good as anyone got that day. Only the thrust blades on the McCready creation were a little wider.

Does that say the propeller trike weighs 1,000 pounds? Surely that can't be right.

So...when you're riding into a headwind that equals the prop output...is that considered a trackstand?

The two-stroke wheel-barrel bike needs some more design modifications. I think I would rather have one of the classic two-stroke powered bikes.

It couldn't possibly be right. It must be a typo. It's conceivable that it weighs 100 pounds, I guess, although even that seems a bit high.

The video shows the guy pushing the bike around pretty easily. There's no way it weights half a ton.

I think the "1,000 pounds" is talking about some other invention.
A "do-it-all switcheroo gizmo," made by the same guy, I guess.

It's worded in a strange way, so it is hard to tell.

You're right. It is. Or it should be. A walk through the links on the PM page shows that the headline came from the previous article in a series which includes the propeller-trike. Some editor kept the headline and simply changed the name of the builder. The object in the earlier article clearly could weigh half a ton, judging by the picture.

Don't they have copy editors at PM? I know everyone is cutting back and all, but still. . .

is this somehow better than a regular bike? it doesn't look very efficient in comparison.
