I have several of the Japanese Crane bells. The sound is so much nicer than the cheap ones, they look nice and the sound travels must further than smaller bells.

It is ginormous even for a cruiser bike ( about the size of your palm ). You can get a similar Electra brand bell with cool designs for less money. Bells in my area are a waste of time. If you like it and it matches your overall bike appearance criteria buy it no matter what anyone else says.

I thought I paid a lot for my Incredibell Duet... About $10-12. It is a great little bell.

This isn't the most aggressive bell, but it's good for MUP. I bought this one at my LBS for about $10. I like it because depending on how hard you spin it, you can ring more aggressively or less so. It sounds more like a swipe over a xylophone. It's not for traffic, but it seems friendlier to me than a single DING DING when someone is peacefully ambling along the path.

Too Bad you got rid of the loud squealing out of your Brakes. they would have tuned heads when applied.

I have one of the double gong Bells from China, I'm thinking of rigging it up inside my Front Door , with a pull cord to the outside.

grip bell opposite of the Rohloff grip shifter (trekking Bars),

incredibell original on the Quill stem of the roadie type bike.

I too have a nice crane brass bell on 2 bikes, around $ 20.00 at your LBS.

I've got Crane bells on two of my bikes, but I splurged for my road bike:

Smaller, louder, beautiful sound. Highly recommended.

I use an incredibell duet. I have scared the whodoo out of some people when I say "on the left", I think the bell is a bit friendlier

I have thought of getting some sleigh bells so they will constantly ring, that should get some attention on the MUP

Brass bells look and sound great. But, if you sweat on them they need a lot of polishing up to keep looking good. Chrome is better if you plan on sweating a lot on the bike.

Thanks for playing.
This looks like an Electra bell but with no cool paint job and costs more for no reason.

This IS the C & V section right ?
Then I'd go for a bell that is period correct for your bike.

I have bells that have a compass in the center, making them useful for two things--tho you do gotta stop and tilt the bike over a bit to get the compass level so it will work right.

I do feel that the types of of bells that have a "double ring" are good. The ones where you push the lever and it rings the bell then you let the lever go and it rings the bell again. I feel they're considered more "playful" and less "get the heck out of my way" type of bell. I have one of the simple $10 bells from above, works great.

Basically, what Rider_1 said.

Another all metal compact bell I'd recommend in addition to the Spurcycle bell (which i have) in the Sogreni Bicycle bell:

Sögreni Bell - €47.00 : Sogreni Bikes

in action:
