An established and respected company, despite the name...

A friend of mine was killed and a ghost bike erected in her honour at the location. It's still there eight years later, and was even moved and re-erected by the road authorities when the highway was realigned.

As someone who has direct contact with the concept of ghost bikes, I do not find any offence with a commercial outfit selling Ghost bikes.

If you aren't able to separate the two concepts, then you have some self-educating to do.

PS: It's just as well the naysayers here don't have any association with BMX-ers; they'd be appalled at what goes on in that subculture's marketplaces.

They are pretty good bicycles, from what the various tests have shown, Cycling Plus has tested several of their models. If this is worth getting up in arms about the winter has hit some people too early. The term Ghost Bike isn't known for the memorial purposes outside of the US and maybe Canada, I doubt that German bicycle manufacturers have any idea about the term, especially since their brand predates the memorials. Most americans don't even know what the white bikes represent, they tend to get stolen or stripped around here. Sad, but it happens.

Boardman bikes, too patriarchal a name
Coker bikes, too druggy sounding
CUBE bikes, too square
Catrike bikes, too anti-canine
Clark-Kent bikes, not super
Faggin bikes, too homophobic sounding
Genesis bikes, too biblical
Gunnar bikes, too weapony
Huffy bikes, too angry sounding
Indian bikes, too anti-native American, err original peoples, sounding
Merlin bikes, too mystical sounding
Rambler bikes, too transient sounding
Surly bikes, too mean sounding
Swing bike, too perverted sounding
Thorn bikes, too prickly sounding

So do we go and force Schwinn to rename the Grey Ghost?... just sayin'... (BTW it was produced back in the 1970's)

People take way too much offense at some words, sometimes the use is deliberate in other cases it is not, this is a NOT.
