I told my wife, if I would have known how carbon felt I would have made sure she got carbon and not aluminum. I ride carbon, she rides aluminum, for now.

Yeah, all that talk about wider tires = more comfort is BS! I run 32mm on my AL commuter and my carbon with 25mm has less road buzz! Too bad I can't commute on my carbon bike -- I'd lose my mind if I had to lock it up outside for an extended period

I had a very stiff Al frame for several seasons (Cervelo Soloist). For the first week or so after going back to a carbon frame, I kept looking down at my rear tire thinking it was going soft. Nope, I was just used to having every tiny imperfection transmitted to my butt.

Ya know, I got an alu Bianchi Impulso recently and I can't complain at all. Road buzz is pretty much gone. You do feel potholes though.

The Bridgestone was totaled in 2012 in an accident from which I was not sure I would ride again. Well I did, and decided to get a CF. My trusted mechanic said here’s the bike you want, knowing my riding style. Well the MSRP was $8000, but he got it for me at half off.
… Personally, I can afford it, and it was an offer I could not refuse. Cycling is that important to me and I’m fortunate to be able to continue the lifestyle, so that puts it in perspective for me....

I won't let anyone ride my carbon frame but it's not about your weight since I weigh 240.
The reason is I lent some of my bikes to some college kid friends and when I when to their house they were all laying on the front lawn not locked. I don't lend my bikes out anymore. To other people, they are just bikes.

How many folks who don't like CF have owned or ridden extensively a nice CF bike? Also, there is a huge difference between the different CF bikes, some of which seems to be by price point. My Roubaix is a very smooth riding bike, much smoother than my CF Fuji, and much more efficient. I was 220ish when I bought her, and they laughed when I asked about weight issues, saying the modern CF bike frames do not care about weight.
