2015 Trek DS 8.6 vs FX 7.5 Weight and Speed difference

Hello,

For some reason the bike sites doesn't give bike weights. I am torn between a 2015 Trek DS 8.6 or FX 7.5. What I would like to know is what is the weight difference between the 2 bikes. I can see the Ds 8.6 would be heavier but by how much. And also which bike is faster. The both seem to have great gearing. But the DS front crank has a 48/36/26 and the FX 48/34. The DS seems to be more a terrain type bike but can be setup for road too. while the FX is manly road. Anyways if anybody has any experience between the two. info would be great

Speed is the same on both - 0mph - unless you get on and pedal.

But seriously, if the bikes had the same tires pumped up to the same pressure, they would be almost exactly the same.

The main difference is that the DS has a suspension fork, which is only useful on rough trails. The rigid fork on the FX is better for paved surfaces.

OK I guess I should of worded it different, LOL! The DS front forks can be set on lock position for the road. So you can get best of both. Maybe I meant which bike is quicker. But weight difference I really like to know.

Uh, no, not really. You pay a cost and weight penalty for the suspension fork, but it might be worth the trade off if you do a lot of off road riding. All bikes involve tradeoffs. What sort of riding are you looking to do? Light trails! Road, bike path? Once you answer that question, then focus your search on similar bikes from different brands or at different shops.
