Just a few weeks ago ... I cycled the length of a beach and back. About 20 km all up. In all my years of cycling, I had never ridden on a beach.

Jealous. Never ridden on a beach. Sounds fun. Did you ride in the sand or is there a path along side of it?

Haha damn, I've only had one or two commutes below 0 and that was with the windchill factored in.

Made it home alive after eating a hash brownie given to me by a fellow bike club member. It took every ounce of skill i developed over the years. Also... I am way too old for hash brownies.

My hat is off to you. Many years ago, when I was 23 and carless, I did a week of leaving the house at -5°F. You got me by a lot.

I once left the house for work when it was.-12F... I moved back to south Florida the next month. If the canary drops dead leave the mine, if the iguana drops dead... Leave the state.

On the sand.

Our first beach ride starts on this page and continues to the next page ...

Our second (less successful ... different beach, softer sand, incoming tide) beach ride starts on this page and continues to the next page ...

And when I lived in Winnipeg, I commuted at -40C/F a time or two. But that was several years ago. I haven't experienced temps that low in a while.

Haha nice. I was given some special brownies on my last bike tour for the ride home. Made a nice mid-morning snack

I got lucky that there wasn't much wind that day. On Tuesday when I went to work I was excited because it was *only* -4°F and we had a predicted high of 5°F on the way home.

Yesterday was 20°F on the way home. First time in weeks I'd ridden without long johns.

If you're going to do a bike tour here ... bring your climbing legs!! It's HILLY! Up north, it's not so bad, but there's very little flat ground around the Hobart area where we live.

But then, if you've been here, you know that.

Lots of great beaches, though.

My biking first would have to be doing 24 miles daily to and 6 miles daily from work... on a full suspension with rear rack and panniers. (80% up hill totalling 259 feet rise).

I know what you mean; a couple of years ago, after drinking at a party, a friend gave me a cookie made with marijuana butter. I was unable to even mount the bike, so I walked it home. That was crazy.

I rode on a lake this winter for the first time - pretty cool weaving around the ice fishermen - its also a great way to measure distances from shore if you are into triathlons.
