Railtrail suggestion

Hi guys, I'm going to get back into biking again, and was looking for some suggestions on what type of bike to get. I'll be doing 90% of the riding on the katy trail (packed limestone trail, repurposed from an old railroad). I used to put about 40 miles a week on it with a Specialized Rockhopper, which was a terrible bike for that kind of riding. I've since sold the bike and now I want to get back into riding the katy trail, just with a bike more suitable for that kind of riding. I understand a bike is a preference, but I'm just looking for a type (road bike, hybrid, etc). It's been so long since I rode on the trail I can't remember what people were typically riding on it. Would a "fitness" bike like a Trek FX or Specialized Sirrus be a good call? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

I live only about 2 miles from the Katy so I ride it a lot.

Almost anything will work on the Katy. My personal preference is for tires 1.25" to about 1.5" wide. Slicks or minimal tread are good. Aside from that just pick a bike that you are comfortable riding.

What RG says.

I use to have a hybrid for the Katy Trail and it worked pretty well. Then I bought a steel touring bike with 700x32 tires. It works great especially for my annual end-to-end ride.

The Trek 7.2 FX has nice wide tires that would work well on the Katy Trail. You might want to consider a disc brake model as the trail dust can eat up the rims with normal brakes.

The Specialized Sirrus also looks like a good bike for the Katy Trail. Either bike would also be good on the road.
