Big Apple 700x50 or 700x60

Hi Everyone,

I used to have a 26" Mountain Bike with 26x2.35 Big Apples. It was fantastic.

I currently have a Novara Safari with 700x50 (2.00") Big Apples on it. They are good, but don't seem as cushy as the 2.35's used to. I was thinking of ordering a set of 700x60 Big Apples for it to get that ultimate cushy ride back. Anyone have experience with both (or either) and feel like sharing your experience? Do you think the volume difference would be that noticeable?

Thanks.

2 x 25,4 = 50.8 so thats 2 inches in mm..

Do you think the volume difference would be that noticeable?

First thing you need to check into is whether or not they'll fit. How much clearance do you have? Remember,wider tires are also taller.

IF they'll fit; you are looking at 44% more air volume which will make a significant difference.

(60 = 50 x 1.2 -> 1.2 x 1.2 = 1.44; the increase volume is due to both the increased width and increased diameter)

Thanks. They will fit but I appreciate the reminder. It's a Novara Safari with the 2.00" on there now with a third of an inch on sides of chain stays and plenty of space for height.
