40, 65, 90 or 130 miles, since allthe routes are "out and back" a rider could just turn around at any point on the course and still be ON course.! This is great training opportunity the day after the race.
Gran Fondo Information
RIDE THE GRAN FONDO FOR FREE! - IF YOU CAN PROVIDE A VOLUNTEER TO HELP AT THE SATURDAY RACE, THEN YOU CAN RIDE THE FONDO FOR FREE. The volunteers meet at 7 a.m. at Zehdners park May 28, 2011. Please contact srweckle@chartermi.net to make arrangements.

Gran Fondos are long distance, Mass-participation cycling events - not races - that have become immensely popular in Europe and Now becoming popular in N. America. They differ from tours in that often there are professional racers participating in the events. Often the racers use this kind of event as a training opportunity. There's not a lot of lollygagging goin on!
Helmets are required
All Abilities Welcome
Some cyclists enter for the challenge and satisfaction of making it to the finish line; others want to push themselves and their friends; and some ride to win! Regardless, the Gran Fondo is an unforgettable cycling experience!
The Gran Fondo di Thumb includes challenging routes, well-stocked aid stations, and a meeting area for picking up your certificate of completion. (Same as registration.)
