Michigan Laws Pertaining to Bicyclists

Having re-entered the world of biking after a 20-year hiatus, I wanted to make sure I was "doing things right". The link below lists an overview of Michigan laws that affect bicyclists, and it seems to cover the major issues. It includes references to more detailed information.

If I've posted this in the wrong area, or if it's a double post, sorry.

Good link!

I find that local laws and ordinances are just as if not more important. For example Grand Rapids has local ordinances for 5 foot passing and there are several areas in the city where you cannot ride on the sidewalks. There used to be a speed limit on some MUPs but that was repealed.

I tried finding local laws for the township I live in, but I came up with nothing. I live in a rural area with no MUP's or anything like that. Just two lane highways and gravel roads. And a K-12 school complex. I'd have to drive into town to worry about city ordinances. The LBS recommended that I NOT ride my bike from where I live into town due to unfriendly drivers.

That's what brought me to looking into state regulations. I figured there may be other poor souls that live in the boonies, so I posted the link. I hear Grand Rapids is quite bike friendly. Relative to where I ride at least.
