^hey I live in Westchester (right next to you) and I am realitively new to the area too.

I have been looking for someone to hit the MTB with...we'll have to set up a ride soon!

Now to answer your question Westchester Bike Shop (on 22nd St across from the Giordano's) is primarly a MTB shop and I have stopped by once and talked to him. According to the owner there are all kinds of trails throughout the Salt Creek woods (off that nice blacktop trail).

Most morning's I ride the blacktop on my Road bike and I see all kinds of single track off of it...

The best in the area is suppose to be Tinley Park...I ride with a group out of Wheaton and they head down there often. I haven't ever made it. I'll let you know when they are going next.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

bike show

"Anybody here ever gone to the Chicago Bike Show? What's it like? Any good deals? I'm not looking for a new bike, butcan always find a "need" for jerseys, gear, etc. "
"I've been going since it was at Pheasant Run in the early 90s, and to me, it isn't worth the effort to get into the city. It was a decent show in 'burbs, but why they chose to move it into Navy Pier, I'll never know. I'm sure there are a lot of cyclists in the city, but it's easier for a city liver to get to the suburbs than the flip trip.
Last time I went, it was a complete waste of time. I won't go back again, especially if it's in the city."

It'll be better this year cuz I will be there with my custom made bicycle jewelry!!!

You didn't happen to be at the Madison Bike Swap meet selling Jewelry were you? If so I remember you and my wife and I stopped by the booth towards the end of the show.

Lived at 127 E. Ridge St. in my sophomore year at Enema U.

if I could find a job that paid enough, I'd buy that house, kick out the people, and move back in.

Nice! I've lived all over this town since '97 even up near your old address in a couple of places. Yeah, the job thing is what everyone says. Just be like me and commute 20 hours to work.

Hi, all, sorry I had to miss the first ride April 21, I had to travel to Lexington that day.

I see a lot of SE Michiganders - want to try a group ride? Ann Arbor way, or ??

hi all I live on the southside of Chicago Have been running a few years, did a few marathons and lots of 1/2's and plenty races and thought I'd try doing tri's this year. Bought a sweet bike Giant OCR composite, absolutly love it. Did my first organized ride a few weeks ago at the Easter Ride organized by Folks on Spokes. Am looking forward to many many more organized rides this summer

Dreamweb,
Search the forum for Midschool22, he's out of Rockford. There's also a number of people in the Elgin area, not TOO far. Check out any BFNIC threads.

Dreamweb,
I'm just a little south of Rockford and got back into road cycling last year.
There's probably stuff closer to you too but I'll off these:
https://www.blackhawkbicycleclub.org/ are based out of Rockford but do a lot of touring to the North so not too far away for you. They are a relaxed group not so much into racing but the day trip kind of thing.
If you are into mountain biking then check out https://www.rctrailcrew.org/
