I'll get it started.

I live in Gilberts, Illinois (just northwest of Elgin; about 40 miles NW of Chicago on I-90) and usually ride around the farm roads of the ever-developing Kane County. Tons of club 'charity' rides start around here in the summer.

Check in everyone!

I am in Crystal Lake, IL but have parents in Sleepy Hollow and Carpentersville, IL. How do I hook up on some of these rides?

Check the BFNIC schedule: Here

BFNIC = Bike Forums Northern Illinois Chapter. There are quite a few of us that are close to you. Keep your eyes open for threads on this forum for ride get togethers. The ride schedule I linked to has links to each ride.

Yo Ben! It's Mark from MDCC.

Detroit here. The AABTS has a route called the "Hills of Ann Arbor" that has some decent hills. The area
across the one lane bridge from Huron Parkway has some killer hills, relatively short but steep for Michigan. The route itself is about 20 miles but is an excellent workout. The toughest hills are Broadway
which runs parallel to Plymouth and Country Club Drive which is in the area across the one lane bridge from
Huron Parkway. The AABTS site provides a map and turn by turn route slip.

The metro area isn't that bad. Most of the best riding is done in and around the area from Birmingham
heading north up into Rochester, Hines Drive, of course Ann Arbor and in the city of Detroit itself Belle
Isle is the safest and best place to ride with Outer Drive being a lesser option.

Just saying, hi I'm in Madison, WI and consider myself a newbie. I did my first major ride this month (the MS150) and signed up for the wright stuff century Labor Day Weekend (but I'm only doing 30 miles). I hope this rain will let up so I feel more motivated to ride

Welcome I ride with Bombay and will be at the WSC, check out the final WSC practice ride on 8/25 10am in Mount Horeb. This rain has got to stop my wife and I did 27 miles Sunday in the Urban Assault Race. Total mileage for the week was 75 which is low considering I was on vacation.

Another Madison folk here. The Wright Stuff is a pretty popular ride and several folks from the "Madison chapter" of BikeForums (so to speak - www.madisonbiking.com) are participating.

Riding with new folks is a good motivator. This time of year, things start to drag a bit and the same routes get boring, so hooking up with others on rides will jump start you.

Thanks so much. I *want* to join BBC but I am a bit intimidated. I've been a commuter for years (only 12 miles a day) and just started actually training this summer. I'm a bit slow and don't know if I'd be able to keep up :/ Maybe I'll be brave and show up on Saturday, I could definitely use some hills especially with all the time off from the rain...

I plan on doing the 26 mile option Saturday and riding on Sunday also, you should come out the Saturday crowd is more relaxed. The group speed varies but most average from 10-18 mph I guess, as the ride progresses the pack spreads out into smaller groups. You don't have to join to ride just show up and sign the waiver. I'll be riding to the start, I ride a blue Scattante and have a blue helmet. If by chance my 10 year old son can be talked into riding we will be on a Cannondale tandem.

Alright, you've convinced me. I am going to try to get my husband to come with as well. My bike is a silver Trek w/pink drop bars and I have a pink helmet. I will try to find you & say hi!

I work just down the road from you at a large manufacturer on Airport Rd. I commute by bike from Elgin to North Aurora 2-3 times a week down the trail. We should hook up on a ride one day after work. you could join in as I head North and just split off when you've gone far enough. PM me if interested.

hey, I was near St. Catharines couple weeks ago. I drove from Chicago to Ontario. Stopped by a winery and they were very friendly. I love Canada.

I saw many bikers in Niagara Falls. I wished that I brought my bike.

You're in my area. I live in Hoffman Estates and I ride Shoefactory Woods(?) and around Willow Creek Church. I commute 5 miles to Schaumburg.

I live in Hoffman Estates, IL and ride around Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, South Barrington and Palatine. My favorites are Deer Grove West, Shoe Factory and Rock Cut. I was in Rock Cut State Park and I loved it. It's about 40 minute drive from my house and most of the trails seem to be single track and no limits to bikes!!
I rode one of the illegal single tracks along the creek in Deer Grove and it was challenging. Will they ever open those to bikes?
Any suggestion on off-road tracks in Cook/DuPage would be appreciated.

I'll bet we've seen each other. I do Shoe Factory FP every day on my commute 6-7AM, 5-6PM return to Streamwood. I ride in on street clothes (7 miles) and throw on kit for the longer ride home (usually 22 miles).

I haven't been in Shoe Factory for a month or so. I've been busy riding other places. Shoe Factory FP is so much more peaceful than Busse Woods. Say hello when you see a blue Specialized Hardrock. I prefer riding unpaved trails though.

just getting into the bike scene but am loving it.
We should have a small meet and great ride of a sort, maybe a nice fall ride with and grab some food at ann arbor brewing company, nothing like meeting some new people over a ride and a few beers
