This brings up an interesting point we have overlooked.

Hey Garysol1, can we get Ontario added to the Great Lakes region on the "Regional Discussions" link page? I mean, they cover as many of the lakes as Michigan, right?

Officially he is stuck in the East Canada region. Unofficially we can welcome the Canucks with open arms

I'm Kristen in Grandview, just northwest of downtown Columbus, Ohio. Greetings to my fellow Columbusites! Columbusians? Columbusers? Whatever.

Haningp... you doing the Tour de Cure in Westerville? We'd love love love to have you join our team if you are... just think about it

I hail from Green Bay Wisconsin. That would be the only city with a football team that will not move.

Anyway, I have lived in Menomonie, WI for many years. I am a former teacher having held many positions over the years. I am a former lawmaker with four terms in the state legislature. Now I am retired and have returned to the love of cycling.

I have a winter bike, a 35 year old road bike and an 08 touring bike I will begin to put to good use in a couple of months. I also brew some very good beer.

Anybody from Menomonie or westcentral Wisconsin here?

I grew up in De Pere actually. I was just checking out the maps today for a planned trip to Green Bay approaching from the north. But on my return trip I am thinking of heading south to Outagamie county then west to Eau Claire.

Nice to see you.

Hello all from Spring Lake Michigan. I ride the roads and MTB trails in Western Michigan from March - November and my new trainer (Ugh) in the winter.

New Wisconsinite checking in. New to the forums, that is....

I'm in my late 20's and consider myself to be pretty fit. I live in SE Wisconsin, and for 2 years now have competed in the Dousman Duathlon and J-Hawk Early/Late Bird Triathlons. Hooked on them both. I've been riding my 15-year old Schwinn 'Clear Creek' steel mountainbike (from when the Clear Creek was still a MTB frame!) with hybrid tires thrown on. I want to get into cycling a little more seriously, and will be buying a decent roadbike this year. I'd like to increase my speed and comfort on the du/tri format races, as well as train on my own to go 30, 40, 50 miles without the intense discomfort I get now. A goal for my future would be the 90-mile "Race the Lake" around Winnebago, as well as a century ride.

I'm woefully uneducated on the finer points of road-bike mechanics, positioning, as well as training and conditioning, but I hope you all will bear with me.

Andy

Sorry, can't accept an unofficial welcome. Not when I just looked out my livingroom window and guess what I saw? One of the Great Lakes, the mightiest of them all. Simply Superior in more ways then one.

Yours in cycling and in the Great Lakes region,

Who knows of any groups in Milwaukee? I'd love to attend a get together and go for a ride. A little bit of motivation to go farther than 8 miles!

Group rides?

It's nice to meet you...

No, I don't ride any local groups. Unfortunately, compared to the bicycle, the trike is a very slow machine. I don't want to hold people back.

Could you please tell me more about these local Appleton rides?

Regards,
Cullen

In the New Berlin / West Allis area, and I'm routinely on the Oak Leaf Trail, New Berlin Rec trail, and the Glacial Drumlin trail.

Fox Cities Cycling Club sponsors a no-drop Wednesday night ride, leaving from the North parking lot of the FVTC campus at 6PM every Wednesday evening. These usually start toward the end of April or early May and run through September.

Chain Reaction Cyclery on Superior St. hosts a number of rides, including a slow paced Tuesday night ride leaving from the shop at 6:30PM. I intend to get my wife to start riding this ride, so maybe we'll see you there!
