We're semi-organized, and if a pumpkin pie will change your mind, I'll bring one.
Bring one anyway.... I'm sure someone will eat it.

EDIT: You might get aham if you bring birthday cake though...

Alright.... Let's bump this thread and get the enthusiasm going again. Weather related concerns aside, here's what I have gathered from the above about who may or may not be riding. Chime in to confirm you'll tentatively be there, or ask to be added to the roll call...

In / Confirmed:
Psimet2001 (100)
CyLowe97 (100)
iab
Drag (31)
aham23 (metric - probably 100)
Kimbercop (first 38)
DekalbSTEEL
voldemort (100)
S_DOG34 (metric or 100)
S_DOG34's buddy
Kenal0 (metric? depends on hockey or karate or something like that)

Maybe so / Maybe not:
jtm1631
Nothingman (??)
mwrobe1
madopal
wonkemtel
signal11
JPW (posted over in the Great Lakes Roll Call thread)

Out:
Shemp

Let us know. The long range forecast says it may be a bit chilly, so get those armwarmers and tights ready to go. We haven't done an actual check, but I'm guessing the intermediate rest stops will have hot cocoa machines.....

I'm in for the first 38. Might be bringing 1 or 2 guys from work too. (Weather permitting of course).

As earlier mentioned, since I'm the last leg, I'm willing to bring post ride munchies.

Maybe something sorta healthy like turkey hot dogs or somethin'.

Chips and buns too of course.

If the second leg is leaving at 11:00, there is a chance I could make it for legs 2 and 3. It is listed as 37 miles-1 hour from my house. I could leave my house by 10:00 and drive fast. I do have to take my son to hockey from 9:20 to 10:20 but it is only a few minutes from my house but I think I can get out of other responsibilites based on the fact that I will be
1. Taking son to hockey tonight after we finish homework.
2. Taking 2 kids to Taekwondo tomorrow and Wednesday along with getting them dinner.
3. Thursday taking son to drum lessons.
4. Friday son to hockey.

I just might have enough points to do this. My only concern is the 8:00 group will ride 38 in just over two hours and that will put them back before 10:30 and I do not want to hold anyone up.

Kenal0, we'd love to have you there, but are we seriously worth the complicated points equation you set forth above??

If you did want to make the metric portion or want to know where we are with regard to your availablity to drive out to Hampshire, all you'd need to do is call one of us and let us know you're on the way. PM if you want phone details.

Kenal0 - If we have a mechanical, or need to slow down, or stop for a while at the stop on the first leg them we may not get back until right near 11. We'll have to refuel, etc.

I am going to leave an info / message sheet on my car. It will tell whoever shows up what time we left for what route.

Like CyLowe stated...just give us (me - probably because I am garaunteed sweep) a call to see where we're at. Worse comes to worse we could always hang around for a couple of minutes to get you on board. - just depends on the size of the ride....if there's only 6 or 7 of us then we can wait.

You do not understand- That is my schedule, ride or no ride. It is like this every week and both son and daughter are going to the same place on Sunday afternoon so if the weather is nice, I am going to try and make it. I will know Saturday evening if I am going and if I am on the way and running late, I will call a cell and let you guys know. It sounds like a good time and I hate to miss out if possible.
Going to get in a quick 20 miler after work as the weather is great out now!!!

Is this a guys only forum/ride? I can't find a centralized great lakes women forum. Can't make this one (doing pumpkin pedal) but maybe others. Though what is your groups average ride speed?

Everyone is welcome!

Average speed is a fuzzy way to explain things. I think my average speed for the last 100 miler we did was something like 16.0 mph.

Can't speak for future rides, but if they are like this weekend's ride, we will have someone dedicated to 'sweeping' the route, meaning they will stay with the 'slowest' group riders or with anyone who has a road-side mechanical problem (flat tire, etc) to insure everyone gets back.

You'll probably see us cross your path on the Pumpkin Pedal. Avg...as CyLowe mentioned...isn't really a super clear indicator. This ride, in particular, is a social ride. We(I) will ride as slow as the slowest rider. Some others will ride faster.

As a group on other rides most of us ride in the 16-17 avg range for a century (6 hr ride, 7 hr total). That means a lot of low-mid 20's while cruising. It depends on day, route, condition, etc...

Depending on how this ride goes there will probably be rides at various levels in the future. I set this ride up mainly as a "get to know you" ride, and as an opportunity for "lesser experienced" riders to attempt a longer route...having a group to ride with.

EDIT: Oh and this is NOT a guys only forum/ride. It is a Bike Forums forum, and a ride for all.

I'm definately in, looking like 62 or maybe 100 if I'm feeling good. I will likely have a friend along as well, but probably only for the last lap.

20 mph? ok so i have to practice harder and maybe i will see you in a 2007 ride. yes, hard to say, i think i'm somewhere around 15-16, but it doesn't stop me from joining a group ride anywhere. It's nice to join a local forum. hi everyone. be sure to wave at the girls in the pumpkin pedal when you pass thru.

Ha! - yeah 20 sounds fast, but if your computer says 15-16 at the end of a ride around here then you spent a good portion of the ride at speeds over 20. Like I said our averages are in the 15-17 range. On no drop rides though our averages are set by the slowest rider.

Hope to see you out there on the next ride.

My solo rides are 16-17. Riding with a group around 20 mph is about the same so if you are in the 15-16 range solo then you will have no problem. I am not a leader, I follow, just ask the guys here I have road with. They could not tell you what the back of my jersey looks like.
