aham23. shider, quickKarl, and myself met at Buffalo Rock State Park. (Did I mention the 14% grade on the way IN to the parking lot?)
And we made a friend while we were getting set to take off.
Here we are on one our our dead end detours
quickKarl had to take off to get back to his wife at the B&B, which left just the three of us
(I'm the fat guy in the middle)
So after 42 grueling miles ( Did I mention the 14% grade on the way back in to the parking lot?) we enjoyed some nice hot Pumpkin spice coffee
It was quite a ride.. from what I saw of it. ( Did I mention I lost a contact lens half-way through and rode the rest of the way one-eyed?)
My personal ride stats: (sorry, I don't have a Garmin) top speed..43.6mph, bottom speed..4.0mph ( Did I mention the 14% grade on the way back in to the parking lot?)
Thanks guys for a great ride. Thanks shider for driving!

Awsome. Can't wait to see the Garmin stats. What I wasnt to know is how steep was it on the way back into the parking lot. I hear it can be pretty steep.

Here you go........................THE STATS
The Garmin recorded my max HR at 234 bpm for this ride. Looking at the charts it was around mile 25 which was the massive downhill where we hit 40 mph. So, either I was pooping myself over the speed or the dumb thing spiked on me??
Anyway, when I was not gasping for air I recall seeing a grade of 12% when going through Starved Rock and 14% when coming West on Route 71 and of course the famous 14% leading into Buffalo Park where we started and finished. What kind of dumb arse picks a 14% grade for the finish???
I mapped out only one dead end. It was very cold. The coffee was awesome. AND quick Carl is just that, very quick. I had a great time and am glad dekalbSTEEL and Shider made the trip.
Frost? Dont we have a to wait on the thaw or something?
I am COLD!
The Famous 14% Start/Finish
